TRIO Groups

In TJSN meetings you will receive valuable advice, support and direction in your job search or career change. However, some of the most valuable tools available to you are not here but at the TRIO meetings held by members of TJSN.

What is a TRIO?

A TRIO is the logical extension and application of the information you receive at the TJSN meetings. A TRIO is typically composed of anywhere from 3 to as many as 7 TJSN members. TRIO meetings are held at least once a week, at various locations in this area, and focus on sharpening job search or career change skills such as the "The 30 Second Commercial", information interviews, networking, how to handle a telephone interview, as well as resume fine tuning suggestions and tips on the current job market to mention just a few of the topics that can be covered.

Additionally the TRIO can provide support in helping overcome the occasional frustration that can accompany a job search or career change. In short, the added advantage you enjoy from participation in a TRIO cannot be had anywhere else and gives you an unparalleled advantage over the competition in your job search or career change.

However, TRIOs are fragile. Regular attendance and individual support of all TRIO activities is critical to the success of a TRIO. Since TRIOs range in size from three to seven people chronic absence or lack of support by just one member can seriously affect the efforts of the other members.

What are the responsibilities associated with TRIO membership?

TRIOs have a lot to offer, but if you cannot give the TRIO your full support then it is possible that TRIO membership may not be for you. So please consider this commitment carefully before you join.

If you decide that TRIO membership should be part of your job search plan, please contact the TRIO Administrator at the next TJSN meeting, He/She will identify a TRIO that is available in your area. At that time you will be provided with a TRIO Roster. The TRIO Roster lists all the active TRIOs and the members, including phone numbers, E-mail addresses, etc. of the membership. You will also be provided with a TRIO Operational Guide and the TRIO Meeting Format, these documents describe how TRIO meetings function, and responsibilities of the membership. Also included will be other topical documents that support TRIO activities.
